Lean Finely Textured Beef
PLEASE
NOTE:
The materials provided on this page and at any and all of the links above are copyrighted
property of JBCS, Inc., and cannot be used in part or whole unless you have an active subscription to
Menu Magic.
This page contains materials to help our Menu Magic subscribers respond (if
necessary or appropriate) to the recent publicity around Lean Finely Textured Beef
(LFTB). Please click on the links above to download the talking points. If
there's anything we left out or should have addressed differently, or if you need a
full-blown media release, please let us know.
We will add to and/or revise these materials as your needs require and if the
story develops. Please let us know if these materials are helpful and what else you need. We will try to
respond as quickly as possible.
Please keep in mind that the materials may not be exactly right for your specific local situation.
Revise and edit as necessary.
Please check back here for our additions/revisions; we may not be able to send
an email blast for every change. We will note next to the links if changes have been
posted.
Our best public relations advice at this point is be ready to
respond but to keep your head down unless you get a request for information. The loaded term "pink
slime" is hard to spin, but I've tried to do that in these talking points by using the term LFTB instead
and emphasizing your pre-eminent commitment to food safety and the well-being of your
kids.
We've necessarily left out a lot of technical detail, but these links make for very good background
viewing/reading (thanks to Karen McGahey for the pdfs):
Thanks,
John Bennett
